Assos (Behramkale) and Kadırga Bay: A Day Trip from Geyikli
The Temple of Athena, Aristotle's footsteps and a swim at Kadırga Bay — a day trip to Assos, 65 km from Chiyanno's Inn: route, road tips and timing.
One of the most striking views in the North Aegean is from the ancient city of Assos, high on a hill facing Lesbos. Today's Behramkale is about 65 km from the guesthouse — perfect for a day trip.

The Temple of Athena and Aristotle
The Temple of Athena on the summit dates from the 6th century BC and is one of the most important Archaic Doric temples in Anatolia. The philosopher Aristotle lived and worked here between 347 and 345 BC at the invitation of Hermias, ruler of Assos.
On the way up you pass a single-domed mosque from the reign of Murad I (Hüdavendigar), and below the village an Ottoman bridge over the Tuzla stream. The stone village itself is well worth a wander.
Afternoon: Kadırga Bay
After Assos, finish the roughly 70 km route with a swim at Kadırga Bay, one of the loveliest bays in the area with a long sandy beach and clear water.
